FALL 2023 REGISTRATION IS OFFICIALLY OPEN & BIG NEWS!

Hello Folsom Soccer Club Members,

I am excited to let you know that registration is now open for the upcoming recreation season (Link Below). As in the past, early bird registration is available at a discounted rate so don't delay in signing up.

We are also offering an upfront discount to head coaches this year. We could not function without the willingness of our volunteer coaches to step up. Our hope is that we can encourage more head coaches to sign up early, so that teams and rosters are available without delays come July. 

I am also excited to let you know that beginning today, Folsom Soccer Club will officially be known as Folsom Lake Surf Recreation. As the club evolves, all soccer players in Folsom should know that they are part of ONE CLUB with playing opportunities from recreation to competitive. Our club is unique in that we offer a recreation to competitive pathway in house, while many other clubs offer only one level. Aligning the name of the club into one is the logical step as we establish ourselves as ONE COMMUNITY, ONE CLUB. 

Last year, our organization took steps to consolidate our recreational and competitive programs. We created a new governance model at the Board level and our management team established a structure that manages and operates both programs as one club. While we have existed as the same business entity for years, confusion about who "SURF" is, persisted. With this change it should be clear that we are all part of SURF NATION. 

I realize there may be questions related to this change and an FAQ is provided below. You can visit our new recreation page on the Folsom Lake Surf website for the registration link and additional program details. I also encourage you to follow Folsom Lake Surf on Facebook and Instagram in order to stay up to date on all that is happening with our Club.

Why rebrand from Folsom Soccer Club to Folsom Lake Surf?

- One Community, One Club, One Identity 

- Clarify relationship between Folsom’s Recreational and Competitive programs (they have been and continue to be the same entity) 

- Programs for all levels of ability and interest

- Access to all Club resources for all

What will our club affiliations be?

- US Club Soccer

- NorCal Premier Soccer

What benefits come from this new affiliation?

- Wider range of player opportunities including postseason tournaments. 

- Streamlined registration process and team placement.  

- Easier player movement from rec to comp. 

Does this affect the cost of the program?

- No, any increases for the upcoming season are simply due to increases in operating cost. We operate as a Non Profit organization, and all fees collected reflect the true costs of operating the program.

Who will we play now?

- U5-U8 teams will continue to play inhouse against other Folsom teams on Folsom fields.

- U9-U12 age groups will now play against teams from Rancho Cordova, Fair Oaks, and in the Carmichael area. 

- U14-U19 will play teams from the Greater Sacramento area as they have in the past.  

What is my requirement for uniforms?

- All players will need to purchase two SURF jerseys - Royal and White

- Players will wear Nike black shorts and Nike black socks. Players can use their black shorts from previous years, or they can be purchased when purchasing the SURF jerseys. 

- Uniform Ordering Information is coming soon - once received it is imperative that you order immediately to receive your uniforms in a timely manner.  All uniforms will be mailed directly to your home address. 

- You will not be required to purchase uniforms annually moving forward. 

I just purchased a new uniform last year?

- If a new uniform was purchased last season, we are offering a 50% discount on this year's purchase.

- If you are unsure of when you purchased your most recent uniform we have a record of last year's orders - to request a discount due to purchasing last year, please email Marcie Nugent at marcie@folsomlakesurf.org  

INTERESTED IN COMP SOCCER? TRYOUTS ARE COMING

Folsom Lake Surf is excited to announce that registration is open for our 2023/24 competitive tryouts! (Recreation players DO NOT have to tryout if they wish to  play recreational soccer. Any player that registers for recreation, but later makes a SURF competitive team, will have their registration fee transferred or reimbursed. Details to follow.)
